R. Mills Roberts, M.D.
Dr. Roberts is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with special interest and fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. As a partner of Irving Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine, PA. Dr. Roberts provides complete orthopaedic care with extensive experience in sports medicine including counseling in injury prevention, supervised rehabilitation programs, conditioning strategies, and the most advanced techniques in arthroscopic ligament reconstruction of the knee and shoulder. His practice is focused on injury prevention and minimally invasive treatment of acute and chronic injuries for both children and adults of all ages.
A native Texan, Dr. Roberts was on the Deans Honor role and served as a Battalion commander while obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in biomedical sciences from Texas A&M University. He graduated with a medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed his orthopaedic residency training in Kansas City at the University of Missouri where he was awarded outstanding orthopaedic resident of the year for 1996. This was followed by a year of specialty training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at UCSD in San Diego, California. He currently is an active resident of Irving proudly treating orthopaedic patients from there and the surrounding communities. He is the team physician and orthopaedic consultant for Irving High School, the University of Dallas and the 2005 &2006 World Champion Dallas Diamonds.
Dr. Roberts currently serves on the medical staff and has been Orthopaedic Department Chairman of Baylor University Medical Center of Irving and Baylor Irving Coppell Medical Center. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Texas Orthopaedic Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and Arthroscopy Association of North America. His research experience includes evaluating current surgical techniques of the shoulder, spinal instrumentation, and pediatric hip dysplasia. He has authored & co-authored several articles and has presented his research at several national conferences. In December of 2005 Dr. Roberts was chosen as one of "Texas Top Docs" for publication in Texas Monthly Magazine.
